Market Dynamics from the Solar Solutions Amsterdam 2025

After attending the Solar Solutions Amsterdam 2025, I have gained some feelings via observing the products and distribution channels trends in the Benelux market. One of the feelings is, Benelux market is keen to smart products conforming with design aesthetics.

1. Product Observations

Residential ESS deign: all-in-one seems to outweigh the separate among newly-developed products

All-in-one design and inverter-battery separate design are still the 2 mainstreams on the residential ESS market. Some senior players like BYD, Pylon, Solis, Fronius etc. are still be well-known for their separate products; while other key players like AlphaESS, SiG Energy, FoxESS etc., whose solutions are of all-in-one design. The newly developed systems in the past 3 years are more with all-in-one design.

C&I BESS design: outdoor cabinet vs stackable modules

Will that save cost on transportation and installation, or of better appearance and flexible configuration, and then become another mainstream on the market, just like what BYD and Pylontech have done on the high-voltage, stackable residential batteries many years ago? We don't know, but this is a market direction worth watching.

PV panels: higher efficiency and better appearance are king

N-type ABC PV panels from AIKO seems very popular on the Benelux, many distributors have displayed the Aiko panels on their booth, especially the all-black models for residential rooftops. High-efficiency and outstanding appearance are said to be the 2 main reasons why it can be a key player on the Benelux market. It is said that the newly launched Neostar 3S+ 54 480W all black module has an efficiency of 24.0%. Design aesthetics also plays an important role in product selection.

2. Distribution Channel Observations

Distribution channel penetration of manufacturers

Huawei has a high penetration on the Benelux market channels. Famous distributors like Libra, Rexel and Krannich are all presenting Huawei products. Segen didn't show any real products on the booth this time.

Because of location, many manufacturers that have performed well on the UK market, such as Solis, SOLAX, FoxESS, etc., all have a good channel performance in the Benelux market.

Sigenergy has caught up from behind and has occupied a clear place in the Benelux home storage market with its nice all-in-one product design and high-tech company image.

More diversified and fiercer distribution channels

Besides, nowadays, the oversea distribution channels and goods distributed in the channels are becoming more diversified. Goods like balcony PV and portable ESS are more preferred in the e-commerce platform, residential solar batteries also have a trend to grasp both the online and off-line channels; the current offline, industrial distribution channels which are used to be mainly with households’ products are now also filled with C&I solar battery goods. All these mean that the competition on efficiency and expertise among channels are fiercer and crucial. In the future, with the more standardized and transparent of the residential solar batteries, the sales in offline channel may give way to online due to cost and efficiency.
